Windows 11, RTX3080, intel i7.

I've reinstalled Lightroom and deleted the cache, to no avail. Any idéas? (Works fine on my other computer, Surface Pro 7, Windows 10.)

See the screen recording: (this depicts the crash at a much slower speed, possible due to recording 4K screen.)

A developer asked me to close MSI afterburner before starting Lightroom. If I do that, Lightroom works 100%. If MSI Afterburner is running, Lightroom crashes. It's as "simple" as that. 🙂 Happy times!

No, sadly not sorted out yet. Tried with a new graphics driver already aswell, tried a fresh re-install, nothing helped.

Still am working as fallback with the previous verison installed.

I just realized that if I'm really fast and can manage to choose Edit/Preferences in the menu before the crash dialog shows, I have access to the GUI! I just have to move the crash dialog to the side and continue use Lightroom as nothing happened. The new masking tool hangs all the time though, but everything else seems to work. I've tried to disable the GPU in settings, but that didn't do anything for the better.

This issue is still existing on my computer.

I updated the graphics cards already a multitude of times, latest NVidia driver is even newer than this issue on my computer, reinstalled everything, adobe cloud, lightroom and all from blank, nothing helped.

Im still editing on Lightroom 4.4 as that is the only version that still works.

Only if you check the "Always send crash reports to Adobe" then you can not do the above mentioned trick.
But you can reset the crash behavior: Hold down Alt+Shift while restarting Lightroom.

Then it will probably work, try it out! I'm using Lightroom 5.0 all the time now, even if it is crashing its usable.

I am sorry to yet push this issue again.

Last time i tried resetting the presets and restoring everything to default values and settings. Did not help.

As of today, i updated from 4.4 to the just released version 5.1
I also updated the Graphics card driver to NVidia 497.29
Then i rebooted the system in high hopes that it finally works again

But no, same issue still existing

Again i sent the error log as suggested by the Lightroom Crash Handler

This issue is annoying to say the least

At least i still can roll back to the version 4.4 but - dont take this statement wrong or anything - i do pay a monthly fee to use Adobes products. I like working with them. But it is a bit frustrating to see an issue existing for months rendering me basically unable to update and use the latest Lightroom version anymore. I would like to try out the new features plus im afraid if that never gets resolved at some point i might end up being unable to roll back to the last working version (4.4).

Does anyone have any news or tricks that i can still try out pretty please?

NVidia updated their graphics driver today. Great, lets give it another try. Freshly reinstalled, cleared cache, cleared all presets, put both the graphics driver and the whole Adobe package on the computer FROM ZERO, updated windows to the newest patch and to add even one more step, i recently purchased a brand new HDD, so i tried installing everything there for a change.

STILL having this issue! I STILL can not use the updated Lightroom 5.1 because on startup i get the error dialoge, i enter a description, enter my email and send it away!

Yet again i have to roll back to Lightroom 4.4 to be able to do some work!

Can PLEASE someone look at this FINALLY or if that already happens, at the very VERY least let me know whats the status? Pretty colourful please?

Hello!

Today I updated Lightroom to 5.2 because it had been lagging on the previous version. Now every time I open it, the program crashes approximately 2 minutes after it opens. I obviously cannot get any work done with this, and  I'd love any assistance anyone can give!

Cheers

Hi,

We’re sorry about the trouble with Lightroom. Would you mind telling us the version of Windows you’re working on? Try disabling the option to Use Graphics Processor from Lightroom by going to Preferences, then Performance. Once done, relaunch Lightroom to check if it helps.

If the issue persists, you can try resetting the Preferences of Lightroom by launching the app while pressing & holding the Shift + Alt keys. When you get the option to confirm resetting the preferences, click Yes & proceed.

Let us know if it helps!

Regards,

Nikunj

Hello!

Thank you for your prompt reply. I am using Windows 11. When I disabled
the graphics processor, but left the box checked for using the GPU for the
display, but not rendering, it appears to have stabilized so far. Thank
you so much!

I've attached a screenshot, because it appears I have another issue with my
graphics card and some kind of "unrecoverable error". Sorry to bounce
around to other issues, but do you have any thoughts there as well? I
appreciate the insight!

For those of you who are crashing on launch, has anyone noticed whether there is a video file (movie) in your catalog that is selected at that time?
