P: Copy/Paste and Sync Features causing photo to haze/gray out after updating LrC

I just updated my LrC to v 12.4 this morning and now when I try to copy/paste settings in the develop tab to a new photo, the new photo is hazed out and flat looking. If I reset the settings and put them in manually, it looks correct, so it has to be an issue with the copy/paste. Please help this is slowing down my work flow tremendously.

Hi, In LrC 12.4, the 'Curve' settings in the copy/create preset/synchronise dialog box is not selected by default. Please select the checkbox to include Tone curve settings. This will be a one-time thing, once you select the 'Curve' checkbox, it will stay selected till you uncheck it manually. We will fix this bug. Thanks for reporting this issue.

Greetings all,

Updates for the Adobe Photography Products have been released.  The August 2023 updates contain a fix for this issue.

If you do not see the update in your Creative Cloud Application, you can refresh it by hitting [Ctrl/Cmd]+[Alt/Opt]+[ R ].

Note: It may take up to 24 hours for your update to be available in your Creative Cloud app.

Thank you for your patience.

A good place to start when LrC behaviour changes after an update is to reset the preference file. You can use Method 1 in below linked Adobe Help document.

Just upgraded to LRC v12.4 on my Mac and am frustrated by the new version bug.

1) Apply a Preset to the 1st photo

2) Do some color adjustments (exposure, contrast etc.)

3) Copy Settings and tick "Check All"

4) Paste Settings to the 2nd photo, but only the color adjustments (exposure, contrast etc.) were pasted. The preset is not applied to the 2nd photo.

So I have to click the preset one by one to every photo before pasting the settings, which is so troublesome and unnecessary. Before when I was using older version LRC, I can easily copy and paste settings (with preset applied together).

Is this a new version bug? Please help!!
I've tried to Reset Preferences couple times but it doens't work..

Have you tried resetting the LrC preference file? If not, then it''s always worth trying, especially when behaviour / performance changes after an upgrade. The procedure for resetting the preference file can be found in Method 1 of the following linked Adobe Help document.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

If above doesn't resolve the issue, then please post your 'System Info'. This can be obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu item as shown in attached screenshot.

The Adobe support person solved it for me by downgrading the version from v12.4.4 to v12.4.3. I believe this is a bug in the latest version of LrC

Even accounting for a bug, you can still apply a preset to any amount of images at once in Grid from the Quick Develop panel using the Saved Preset dropdown.

Does the image you're copying from have a preset applied first? There are reports of presets based settings not being copied over.

I have four Mac computer (3 M1 based and 1 Intel) and can't reproduce the issue you describe when using any them.

Did you try resetting the LrC preference file before contacting Adobe Support or did they try? If not then, this should have been the first thing to check, especially when LrC misbehaves after an update.

I suggest you uninstall 12.3, then install 12.4. If the issue remains, then reset the preferences file as described in Method 1 in below linked Adobe Help document. Yes, it can be PITA, but if it works, then you'll be using the latest version with the improvements that go with it.

https://helpx.adobe.com/lightroom-classic/help/setting-preferences-lightroom.html

BTW, there is no such version as 12.4.4 or 12.4.3. You were downgraded from 12.4 to 12.3

Have you tried resetting the LrC preference file as I suggested above?

If resetting preferences doesn't help, then please provide a copy of your 'System Info'. This can be obtained from the LrC Help > System Info menu item as shown in attached screenshot.

I have made some presets for my photography and used them for a long time. I then sync the preset image to the original photos in my gallery and can choose which ones to keep. (They all look uniform with the same color settings.) For some reason, now when I use a preset on an image and go to sync the gallery, the synced images have a weird "fog" or filtered look over them and it doesn't match the preset image. The lighting on the images doesn't vary. Any ideas to help? I have updated the app, reimported the photos, etc. Help!

Here are screenshots of the issue. The first one is the preset image. The other is the synced photo where you see a "screen" over the image.

@TorreydPhotography, please do the LR menu command Help > System Info and copy/paste the entire contents here so we can see exactly which versions of hardware and software LR thinks you're running.

After updating to v12, when I attempt to apply my batch edit, the batched photos look hazy and washed out. Is this a bug or some sort of LR setting applied that I need to uncheck? Thank you!

When I try to sync my photos, the first photo looks fine and has it edited exactly how I want it to be, but the rest of the photos have a weird fog/haze over them and looks nothing like how I originally edited the first photo. I've tried resetting my preferences, reuploading the photos, resetting my laptop, but nothing has worked. Help!

Your screenshots show a setting of -100 for whites and +100 for blacks. Did you apply those settings manually?
Maybe the images are extremely over exposed and you are attempting to recover blown highlights?
